Western Aircraft – The Authorised Pilatus Centre in the Northwest of the United States
Given that North America has always been our main market by far, it will come as no surprise that the world’s biggest Authorised Pilatus dealer is also located in the USA. Headquartered in Boise, Idaho, Western Aircraft is set to deliver its 200th PC-12 this year! Pilatus Aircraft Ltd
2015 remained true to trend in that 2/3 of delivered PC-12 NGs went to the USA, keeping our pilots very busy with ferry flights to our American subsidiary in Broomfield, Colorado. From there, a good number continued their journey northwest, heading for Western Aircraft, for years our most successful PC-12 dealer in terms of number of aircraft sold.
Dealer and certified maintenance outfit
Western Aircraft started out in the 1950s as a small flight department that was part of a construction company. In the past six decades it has become one of the biggest aviation service providers in the western United States. Based at Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field Airport, the company joined Greenwich AeroGroup in 2007. Western Aircraft offers aircraft sales (Pilatus and Piper) and fixed-base operator (FBO) services alongside aircraft management and charter services. It is also a certified maintenance outfit for Pilatus and eight other aircraft brands. With six hangars covering a total of 7,200 m2 (equivalent to the average football pitch), Western Aircraft is synonymous with big numbers.
200 PC-12 sold
Phil Winters, Vice President Aircraft Sales & Charter, joined the company in 1997. He comments: “Western’s relationship with Pilatus has undoubtedly provided one of the pillars of our success in the past 20 years. I will always regard working with our friends at Pilatus and representing their aircraft in our region as a career highlight”. He is especially excited about a milestone event coming up this spring: “Our team is both proud and grateful to be the first dealer to sell its 200th new PC-12. We recognize it would not have been possible without such excellent teamwork between Stans, Broomfield and Boise”. Western was recently appointed to act as agent for our PC-24, and Phil Winters looks forward to this new challenge.
